Membership Application Form Applications for all grades of membership except students,
graduate technicians and graduates must be made on the 'Application
for Membership or Transfer' form M1. There are separate forms available
for students, graduate technicians and graduates. The form must be completed
in full and signed by the applicant and a single corporate or fellow
member of the institution.
Sponsorship Requirements
The applicantfor the grades of Affiliate, Associate, Corporate, Fellow
& Technician membership, is required to obtain three sponsors, who
should be a corporate or fellow member of the Institution, except applicants
for Affiliate, who require none. Sponsors should
have personal knowledge of the applicant and his/her work and must enter
their names and addresses and sign the application form. Sponsors are
also required to certify the correctness of the 'Statement of Experience'
by initialling the relevant sections. Sponsors are also required to
complete the Confidential Assessment Form M2, which will be sent to
them. Sponsors of applicants for Corporate Grades (ie. Member or Fellow)
must themselves be Corporate Members. In the case of applicants for
the grade of Fellow at least one sponsor should be a Fellow of the Institution.
Proof of Qualifications, Training and Experience
Positive proof of identification will be required. Documentary proof
of academic qualifications must be submitted with the application. Photocopies
of certificates etc., must be certified as being true copies by a senior
member of the Institution or a Commissioner of Oaths. Original certificates
should not be submitted. A comprehensive training experience report
and a recent project of your own choice which should be indicative and
illustrative of your current engineering work, as required by the grade
you are appling for, must be submitted with the application.
