The Congress attracted over 200 delegates and senior government officials.
Participation during the congress reflected that the engineers were
geared towards contributing in the economic revival of the country.
Resolutions passed at the congress were, the appointment of engineers
in decision making positions to enable engineers to take a leading role
in technological and engineering development issues. Regulation of the
engineering preactice through the finalisation of the registration of
all practicing engineers and technicians. Mobilization of alternative
funding to resuscitate the engineering industry in Zimbabwe such as
the introduce tariffs to sustain and develop the infrastructure. Engineers
to focus on research, design and development of appropriate and adequate
agricultural machinery and equipment forthe agrarian reform in Zimbabwe.
To expedite the implementation of projects on available alternative
energy source and production of diesel to alleviate energy shortages.
Regulation of Informal gold panning to conform activities to minimum
EIA and safety standards and the incentivising and encouragement of
investment in processiong, value addition and import subsitution
