THE Zimbabwe Institution of Engineers (ZIE) is a multi-disciplinary institution covering all aspects of engineering in Zimbabwe. The institution is the sole representative organization for the engineering profession in Zimbabwe. The Institution was founded in 1944 as the Society of Engineers and received legal status as an Institution in 1952. The institution is a private body and is regulated by an Act of Parliament. It has a membership of more than 2 500 professional engineers, technicians and students. Its members are drawn from all levels of the engineering industry and profession in Zimbabwe, but excludes artisans.The Institution is dedicated to fostering and promoting the art and science of engineering for the well – being of mankind. The Zimbabwe Government accepts the Zimbabwe Institution
of Engineers as the official voice for the engineering profession. Not
only that but also is the official representative of the profession
at international forums such as the World Federation of Engineers Organisation
(WFEO), Commonwealth Engineering Council (CEC) and Africa Engineers The Institution is governed by Council and Executive Board,
